Janel at Laguna Seca

Janel is the navigator of the Targa Miata when we race, but she likes the driver's seat as well. Here, she's taking the car around Laguna Seca with Rick Weldon riding as her instructor in the passenger's seat. He's a friend of ours, and very happy with the way Janel takes instruction. She's quite trusting - if you tell her to take a corner flat, she'll take it flat. She's also quite consistent, her lap times in this video vary by less than a second. She'd already pulled around 12 seconds off her lap time in previous sessions. The video starts about halfway through her session, and she's trying to hold off a Porsche 911 GT3 that's behind her. Due to sound restrictions she's having to hold 4th gear through turn 5, where she'd normally be dropping to third. View this video in standard definition (it'll load faster!) |
